Katalpa (Fund)
Working for the preservation of nomadic culture in Mongolia; providing education and care for orphaned and/or underprivileged children and young adults.
What is it about?
The Founders of the Katalpa Fund have been supporting initiatives in Mongolia since 2002. With their support, 36 young Mongolians studied and graduated from universities and colleges in Mongolia, Korea, and Germany. Six children also benefited from health support.
The supported children grew up to become young adults. At the request of some of them, several start-ups and micro-business projects were supported. These include a barber shop, an Internet coffee & printing center, a mobile nursing service, a retail selling spot for fuel, a rabbit farm, and sheep/cattle breeding projects.
Since 2016, they also supported a savings & credit cooperatives project, providing soft loans are for its members to finance, for example, postgraduate studies, private businesses and the purchase of new homes.
KBF will continue the excellent work started by the Founders and will support non-profit organisations in Mongolia that either work to preserve nomadic culture in Mongolia; or provide education and care for orphaned and/or disadvantaged children and young adults in Mongolia.
