Jo-Di VIRUNGA (Fund)
Support for projects engaged in protecting the natural environment and endangered or weakened areas, as well as the flora and fauna, in the Virunga National Park (DRC).
What is it about?
The objective of the Fund is to support projects and initiatives aimed at protecting vulnerable or threatened nature and landscapes, including wildlife and fauna and flora, in the Virunga National Park in eastern Congo. The Fund can buy land, support the projects of organisations, finance equipment, support volunteers, etc.
The Fund also supports initiatives that help the population of the Virunga National Park, located in eastern Congo, in the areas of housing, medical care, education, self-sufficiency, etc. The basic principle here is that the initiatives supported aim to improve the living conditions of the local population.
As a first step, the Fund will mainly contribute to the financing of the Fallen Rangers Fund, which assists the families of park rangers who have been killed in the course of their mission.
