Liisa (Brussels, 2000) was chosen by the jury for a series of small canvases featuring deserted houses, empty chairs, uninhabited landscapes and the occasional solitary figure.
Delving into these reoccurring images, Liisa explored a sense of absence and nostalgia, creating a slightly surreal atmosphere in which the lines between dream and reality are blurred. The blue palette evokes that particular hour when day turns into night, and the small scale of the paintings is an invitation to step closer and into the quiet of the intimate world they depict.
