Moataz Alqaissy

Moataz Alqaissy (Bagdad, 1986) is the very first laureate of the Marianne Van Vyve Prize (2021). His work is influenced by the memories of his upbringing in Iraq and by the History of Painting at large. The jury chose to reward his graduate presentation exploring the physical and conceptual aspect of painting by releasing the canvas from its support.
