POMONA Art Fund (Fund)
Support for artists and artistic creativity in its diversity in Belgium: grants awarded to visual artists’ projects at key moments in their careers.
What is it about?
The POMONA Art Fund is devoted to supporting artists and creative processes in Belgium. It awards grants to artists of all disciplines at key stages in their development. It aims to further facilitate the circumstances in which the arts can flourish with project grants and a solidarity fund. The POMONA Art Fund recognizes and celebrates Belgium’s artistic and cultural diversity, and aims to help equip it for the future by creating occasions for understanding and mutual engagement in a rapidly changing world.
Pomona is the Roman Goddess of orchards and of fruit. Her name derives from the word Poma, which is the Latin for fruit. She was often depicted throughout the Renaissance. Each year again she helps ensure the blossoms of the fruit trees are fertilized so they can bear fruit. Pomona helps make the harvest possible, yet does not partake of the result.
