Music Fund (Friends of Fund)
Philanthropists support projects of the asbl Music Fund, which collects and distributes musical instruments to musicians and music schools in developing countries.
What is it about?
The Fund was created on the initiative of philanthropic friends. They use their own network and that of the asbl Music Fund to collect donations. The collected funds are used to financially support various projects of the organization.
Music Fund supports young musicians and music schools in developing countries or in conflict areas. Music Fund coordinates musical instruments collecting in Europe and then takes care of their restoration and distribution. Thus, hundreds of instruments are donated annually to music schools in Africa, Haiti and the Middle East. Music Fund offers the knowledge to tune, repair and maintain musical instruments. To this end, it organizes initiation workshops, internships with experienced European instrument builders, and has even set up repair workshops in some partner schools. Recognized by the European Union as a 'Best Practice in Culture and Development'.
