Afterschool, holiday schools and young leaders programmes to ensure youngsters' future development and skills training that will lead to employment and an income.

€ 21,000Youngsters growing up in the isolated village of Barrydale and on surrounding farms are faced with few recreational activities, high unemployment, widespread poverty, absent fathers, alcohol and substance abuse, domestic violence, teenage pregnancy, few good role models, few opportunities for development of skills, poor progression to tertiary study.
To counter this, Net vir Pret run:
- An Afterschool Programme which develops motor, literacy, numeracy and social skills through art, craft, pottery, drama, dance, puppetry, chess, biking and other recreational activities.
- Holiday Schools which keep youngsters safe and engage them in creative and recreational activities.
- A Young Leaders Programme for youngsters in their final years of schooling which develops social and civic responsibility and helps them make realistic career choices and plans for further study.
- A Skills Training Programme for out-of-school, unemployed youth which provides training which can lead to employment and income-generation.
