Global Investigative Journalism Network
Development of the GIJN network for investigative journalism in French-speaking Africa.
Support
€ 25,000Independent, watchdog journalism is essential for democracy, transparency, and social justice in every society. On this matter, Francophone Africa appears to be a forgotten world – even compared to the rest of Africa. GIJN is making important progress across Anglophone Africa, where its online networks link together more than 22,000 English-speaking journalists and supporters across the continent.
Grant funding will be used to expand its regional resources, training workshops, journalists' Help Desk, and translations; and outreach to journalists across Francophone Africa. They will work to strengthen existing centers for investigative journalism, and to build new ones, and to bring innovative models to support a new era of accountability journalism in the region.
