Report from the ‘Art & Memory’ colloquium held on 21 June 2024.

What is it about?
On 21 June 2024, the Joseph Schepers-Germaine Lijnen Fund, managed by the King Baudouin Foundation, hosted a colloquium exploring the deep connection between art and memory. Artists, historians, and cultural experts gathered to discuss how art preserves, reflects, and shapes both personal and collective remembrance. Art serves not only as a bridge between the past and present, it strengthens people individually and socially. This publication captures the event’s key insights, highlighting how memory fuels artistic practice and how art, in turn, helps us understand who we are and where we come from.
