In the Ayacuchan Andes, it is difficult for young people to have access to university studies. The BRIGHT Fund supports two young people by providing them with a university scholarship. The students are identified with the help of the Belgian organisation Solid, which runs a programme in the region. In 2020, the Fund supported siblings Jaqui (bio-engineering) and Joel (pharmacy).
As enterprising young people, after successfully following a specific training, they started their own rural business with their families. The scholarship gives them the opportunity to start university studies. This way, they will be better able to contribute to the development of their community.
