What is it about?

Instituto Terra is the result of the initiative of the couple Lélia Deluiz Wanick Salgado and Sebastião Salgado, who were confronted with the environmental degradation of the former cattle farm of the family of Sebastião Salgado - like the many other rural units located in the city Mineira de Aimorés in Brazil.

They took the decision to give back to nature what decades of environmental degradation had destroyed. To achieve this goal, Instituto Terra develops projects that range from forest restoration and protection of springs to applied scientific research and environmental education.

Financial support comes from different partners, both from the government and private sectors, as well as from foundations and individual donors from various countries and other third sector institutions.
