Census of homeless people 2021
Census of homeless people in South-West Flanders, the BraViO frontline zone, Charleroi and Namur, 2021
What is it about?
At the end of 2021, homelessness was mapped in South-West Flanders (Anzegem, Avelgem, Deerlijk, Harelbeke, Kortrijk, Kuurne, Lendelede, Menen, Spiere-Helkijn, Waregem, Wervik, Wevelgem, Wielsbeke, and Zwevegem), the BraViO frontline zone (Vilvoorde, Machelen, Steenokkerzeel, Zemst, Kampenhout) and the cities of Namur and Charleroi. These censuses follow a first edition in the province of Limburg and the cities of Ghent, Arlon and Liège.
The surveys were carried out by research teams from LUCAS KU Leuven and UCLouvain CIRTES, in close cooperation with the local authorities and thanks to the massive commitment of local public services and numerous associations, institutions and volunteers.
The censuses resulted in several publications:
• a global report on the situation of homelessness in these cities and provinces;
• a local report and info sheet with data for South-West Flanders, the BraViO frontline zone, Charleroi and Namur.
