What is it about?

The Okapi Scholarship Fund offers talented young Congolese a chance to access an excellent education at the Kivu International School (KIS) in Goma, DR Congo, through a scholarship programme.

The scholarships are awarded to young Congolese who show great academic potential but whose parents or families do not have the necessary financial means. The emphasis is on the notion of "excellence" scholarships to encourage recipients to give their best and achieve the best results both academically and in terms of their behaviour.

KIS is committed to promoting gender equality and to awarding scholarships equally to girls and boys.

Parents and children commit themselves to repaying (at least) the amounts they have received, when they can afford it. This "giving-back" logic is part of the principles and values taught to the children.
