Chair ‘Transition psychiatry’
Promoting interdisciplinary research, education and knowledge sharing on transitional psychiatry
What is it about?
The Fund Julie Renson, the Queen Fabiola Fund and the King Baudouin Foundation wished to strengthen transition care in our country and invested in two chairs of "Transition Psychiatry" to promote research, education and knowledge sharing with practitioners.
Thanks to the financial support of 1,200,000 euros, spread over 4 years (2019 to 2022), two chairs were launched, one at KULeuven and the other at Huderf CHU Brugmann-Erasme-SSM ULB.

The creation of these chairs was prompted by the fact that the partnership of the Mental Health Funds and the Foundation noted a growing interest in transition psychiatry in Belgium, both within the ongoing mental health reforms and through participation in international studies and concrete initiatives at regional levels.
The Chairs aim to set the agenda for "Transition Psychiatry" and to contribute to research, education and innovation in the care of young people, adapted to their stage of life, lifestyle and the current zeitgeist.
