An innovative epitranscriptomic approach to target cancer persister cells
2023
Ixelles
Research study by Evelyne Collignon: Drug-tolerant persister (DTP) cells are a major obstacle to chemotherapy and can lead to deadly cancer relapses. Building up on emerging data, this project aims to study the effects of RNA methylation (m6A) in DTPs, focusing on breast cancers. The project will follow 3 phases: (1) characterization of the DTP phenotype with transcriptome-wide m6A mapping, (2) functional study on the impact of m6A in DTPs, and (3) evaluation of the therapeutic potential of altering m6A to target DTPs.
