Fonds Jean et Hélène Peters (Fund)

Europe and International

The Jean & Hélène Peters Fund supports projects in Europe that fight poverty and exclusion by meeting the urgent needs of people in difficulty.

Le Colibri

What is it about?

The Fonds Jean & Hélène Peters, managed by the King Baudouin Foundation, invests several million Euros annually to support impactful non-profit projects in France, Germany, and the United Kingdom. The fund aims to enable both immediate and long-term social impact by empowering organisations to drive meaningful change for their beneficiaries.

WHICH ORGANISATIONS ARE ELIGIBLE?

Eligible organisations are non-profits with strong governance structures and sound financial planning that are based in France, Germany, or the United Kingdom. While exceptions exist, the fund primarily supports organisations which work directly with the beneficiaries and have an annual budget of between 1 million and 10 million Euro.

Primary beneficiaries are:

  • Young people from underprivileged backgrounds,
  • Marginalised elderly individuals,
  • Individuals in precarious situations,
  • Residents of deprived neighbourhoods.

WHAT KIND OF PROJECTS ARE SUPPORTED?

The Fonds Jean & Hélène Peters prioritises initiatives that:

  • Support education for disadvantaged youth – Promoting equal opportunities for young people from underprivileged backgrounds. Ensuring access to quality learning and to the tools needed to succeed.
  • Facilitate access to employment – Helping individuals, especially youth, to prepare for their professional future, secure jobs, and build sustainable careers.
  • Tackle poverty and social exclusion – Providing direct aid, resources and innovative solutions for individuals and families facing hardship.
  • Assist vulnerable individuals – Supporting those facing poverty, health challenges, or social isolation by funding essential services.
  • Educate about democracy – Training and informing young people on preventing extremism and racism.

The amount of funding awarded to each project depends on its specific objectives and needs, typically ranging between 30,000 and 100,000 EUR. In most cases the Fund expects the charities to find co-financing for the funded projects

Preference is given to proposals that enable organisations to launch new projects, or grow, extend, expand its current activities, as opposed to funding ongoing operations.

HOW ARE THE ORGANISATIONS AND PROJECTS SELECTED?

Our team proactively identifies and contacts impactful organisations. Organisations that meet the fund’s criteria and align with the fund’s mission are then invited to submit funding proposals for relevant projects. Funding decisions are made by the dedicated management committee of the Fonds Jean & Hélène Peters.
